Business Excellence Ayrshire was formed as a partnership with Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire and the Quality Scotland Foundation in November 1998.

Initially it was seen as a vehicle for building excellence and networking with special emphasis on providing these opportunities to Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) across all sectors of West Central Scotland, through Excellence based training, best practice and networking. Business Excellence Ayrshire is a not-for-profit Company with a Chairman and board of directors, which reflects the diversity of organisations within West Central Scotland.

Since its inception, Business Excellence Ayrshire (bEa) has now become a focal point for Companies pursuing many aspects of Quality, Best Practice, Leadership, Entrepreneurial Skills and Continuous Improvement. The programme of events and seminars offered by bEa allows companies to identify

areas of improvement that assists them to design appropriate business development interventions as required. As a not-for-profit stand-alone company we understand the importance of creating, connecting and learning faster as the key for sustained growth and prosperity.

Our experience in working with over 400 organisations has allowed us to develop our strategy and mission to improve competitiveness and productivity within the community. A focus for this activity is the use of the Business Excellence Model, which is increasingly being used as a driver for gaining competitive advantage. Key aspects being Leadership, Customer results, Entrepreneur skills and Environment aligning against the goals of the Scottish Executive to develop a Smart, Successful Scotland.
